How can I find out which collection agency holds my account and their address???
I'm trying to figure out what collection agency holds my account. Is there any way to do that? They called me on the phone once, and I got to see first hand how they will treat ppl to get money as fast as possible. I was advised by a consolidater not to talk to them on the phone at all. The consolidater couldn't really do much to lower my payments to the collection agency, so he told me to just mail them what I could in payments until I could get the entire amount to them. Only problem is I never got the name or address of the collection agency and I don't even have the number to them anymore. I want to mail them (so I have paper copies of everything) and ask them to send me something that shows how much I owe and where it all comes from (intrest, etc...) and also to mail payments. Can anyone tell me how to find out which IOWA collection agency would have my old credit card account? Thanks!
You can order a credit report and your creditors contact information will be on there.
Once you contact them I suggest trying to settle for a lower amount. Keeping good records is very important, however, do NOT mail the company personal checks, try using money orders (that way they do not have your checking account information). Or giving them any of your work information- They can uses these pieces of information to garnish wages, of levy bank accounts if you end up not paying them in full.

Hired Hand, The $13.46 Peter Fonda's superb yet little-seen directorial debut subverts the machismo of the Western genre with a quiet, understated tale of relationships and loyalty in the Wild West. Fonda stars as Harry Collings, a drifter who has been roaming from town to town with his close friend and fellow wanderer Arch Harris (Warren Oates). Collings is haunted by memories of the wife (Verna Bloom) and daughter he abandoned and decides to make amends and return to them, offering penance by working on the family farmstead as a hired hand. But his newfound domesticity is threatened when Arch is taken hostage by an enemy they affronted in their travels, and Collings must choose between family responsibility or loyalty to his friend. Beautifully shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer Vilmos Szigmond (DELIVERANCE, MCCABE & MRS. MILLER) and hauntingly scored by acclaimed composer Bruce Langhorne, THE HIRED HAND is a sensitive drama that prompted Jane Fonda to declare that her brother had made the first feminist Western. |

Cool Hand Luke $11.66 In this classic Southern prison drama, social misfit Lucas Luke Jackson (Paul Newman) is incarcerated for a petty crime and sentenced to a chain gang. Luke is a sullen and laconic young man whose cool defiance of the sadistic warden and bullying inmates earns him the title Cool Hand Luke. But as the prisoners' respect for Luke grows into hero worship, he finds that he must risk everything in order to live up to their expectations. Filled with dozens of memorable scenes (Luke eating 50 eggs) and quotable lines (What we have here is a failure to communicate.), COOL HAND LUKE is a testament to excellent screenwriting (Donn Pearce and Frank Pierson) and Newman's charm and skill as an actor. The film also features an outstanding supporting cast that includes George Kennedy, Strother Martin, and early screen appearances by Dennis Hopper and Harry Dean Stanton. |

Hand That Rocks the Cradle $9.99 The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is director Curtis Hanson's suburban horror story of a demented nanny bent on revenge for past wrongs. Peyton (Rebecca De Mornay) was once a happily married woman, but when her doctor husband is accused of assaulting a patient and he commits suicide, her world falls apart and she plots revenge. Claire (Annabella Sciorra), the woman who made the accusation, hires Peyton as a nanny, not knowing of their past involvement. Peyton then proceeds to terrorize the family, attempts to seduce the husband and generally destroy Claire as she feels she has been destroyed. The film, while somewhat implausible, is saved by the strong performances of Sciorra and De Mornay. Rebecca De Mornay has not given such a good performance since Risky Business, and she manages to make Peyton both believable, frightening and sympathetic. De Mornay has many great moments, but the scene, where she slowly destroys a bathroom in her impotent rage is unbelievably powerful. Hanson, a superb director of thrillers, manages to bring all the elements together to make The Hand that Rocks the Cradle a frightening psychological thriller and an interesting look at a woman's obsessive hatred and envy. ~ Linda Rasmussen, All Movie Guide |

Big Hand for the Little Lady $17.96 The action in A Big Hand for the Little Lady centers around a high-stake poker game. The participants include some of the wealthiest men in the West (among them Jason Robards Jr., Kevin McCarthy, Charles Bickford and Paul Ford). Into this rarefied atmosphere trudges impoverished farmer Henry Fonda, who despite the protests of his wife Joanne Woodward plunks down his last dollars to join the game. Halfway through the proceedings, Fonda falls ill. With quiet desperation, Woodward sits down daintily at the table and says in a firm voice, Gentlemen, how do you play this game? End of story? Not by a long shot! This O. Henry-style shaggy dog story is based on a Dupont Show of the Week TV presentation Big Deal at Laredo. Keep an eye out for two movie veterans in bit parts: silent screen comic Chester Conklin and 1930's leading lady Mae Clarke. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide |

THE HIRED HAND (CE) $22.46 Meeting largely mixed reviews during its first run in 1971, counterculture icon Peter Fonda's directorial debut was restored and remastered for its 30-year anniversary. The film opens with three drifters greeting the morning by cavorting in a sun-dabbled mountain river. Harry Collings (Fonda) catches a fish and gives it to Arch Harris (Warren Oates) who grills it over a low fire, while Dan (Robert Pratt) -- the youngest of the three -- bathes in the swift moving current. Later, as they head into Del Norte, a small town in the middle of nowhere, Dan talks breathlessly about going to California while Collings suddenly decides to return home after a seven-year absence. After Dan runs afoul of a group of unsavory characters lead by McVey (Severn Darden), Collings vows vengeance for the lad's death and blows off McVey's feet. Collings and Harris bury Dan and flee from the town riding hundreds of miles to Collings' homestead. His wife Hannah (Verna Bloom) -- now called Widow Collings by the local townsfolk -- is none too pleased to see her wayward husband at her doorstep. Taking his wife's anger in stride, he asks only to be allowed to work as a hired hand. Just as Hannah and Collings start to move beyond the years of anger and estrangement, disaster strikes. This film was screened at the 2001 Toronto Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide |

OUT OF HAND-SEXUAL DOMINATION $24.26 A provocative coming-of-age drama with domination and homoerotic themes. The film, by first-time director Eva Urthaler, was an official selection of the 2006 Philadelphia International Film Festival and the 2006 NewFest (New York) and was nominated for the Golden Leopard Prize at the 2005 Locarno International Film Festival. Containing somewhat surprising subject matter for a female director, OUT OF HAND deals with the brutal kidnapping of an adult female by two teenaged boys, who struggle with what to do with their prey once they have immobilized her in an abandoned factory. The film explores the razor-thin line between adolescence and adulthood and how the quest for power fuels sexuality and vice versa. All three actors have won awards for their chilling performances in the film. Elisabetta Rocchetti (Sonja) was named Best European Actress by the National Syndicate of Italian Cinematographic Journalists. Sergej Moya (Sebastian) won the Best Actor award at the Madrid Mostoles Film Festival. Ludwig Trepte (Paul) won the Best Young Actor award at the Max Ophuls Film Festival where director Urthaler won the Max Ophuls award. In the story, Sebastian and Paul are two teenaged troublemakers who spend their time drinking, stealing and beating people up. It's the thrill, the sense of testing their limits... and the wolf-like nature deep inside that attracts them to each other. From the outset, Sebastian emerges as the dominant figure in the pair, because he always wants to go one step further than Paul. One day they abduct 30-year-old convenience-store clerk Sonja and drag her back to their hangout in an abandoned factory. But now, what should they do with her? Paul becomes more distant with Sebastian as he starts to feel attracted to Sonja, trying to help her as much as possible. While Sebastian, not admitting even to himself that he has fallen in love with Paul, feels hurt and jealous... and becomes capable of anything. Source: Wolfe Video |

KILLERS COLLECTION $7.95 This collection of five cheesy and proudly exploitative sub-B movies brings together some of the best yet least known low-budget serial-killer flicks of the 1960s, '70s and '80s. James Landis's THE SADIST (1963) features Arch Hall, Jr., as a psychopath with a murderous hatred of schoolteachers; THE KILLING HAND (1973) stars John Savage as a rapist tormented by his past, with an increasingly insane need for revenge and bloodshed. HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY (1981) comes from Italian master of splatter Lucio Fulci and tells of an old mansion that comes with an ancient, monstrous serial killer in the basement. The cellar isn't a nice place in DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT (1973), either, as sick and bloodthirsty inmates take over their creepy mental institute. Finally, the terrifying SILENT NIGHT, BLOODY NIGHT (1973) features an escaped psychopath terrorizing the residents of a small community and lurking in, yes, a large old house on the edge of town. Taken together, these sick, bloody, and frightening movies make up an exciting and rare collection--but one that should not be watched alone, in an old mansion, or anywhere near a basement. |

HE DIED WITH A FELAFEL IN HIS HAND $13.46 Danny (Noah Taylor) is a young man seemingly used to chaos, but he soon discovers that the fates are more than capable of dishing out more than he can handle in this offbeat Australian comedy. By his own count, thirtyish Danny has found himself sharing living quarters with one or more friends more than four dozen times in the past; one might imagine this would make him immune to roommate problems, but that soon proves not to be the case. While sharing a house in Brisbane with a handful of sloppy guys -- and one woman, Sam (Emily Hamilton), who ought to know better -- Danny finds himself obsessing over his most recent relationship, which crashed and burned six months before. The arrival of Anya (Romane Bohringer) picks up Danny's spirits, until he discovers she's dating Sam; this sets off his impulsive instincts, and too much spending (and too much damage to his rented house) forces Danny to high-tail it to Melbourne. Sam soon follows, smarting from a break-up with Anya, and she ends up sharing a flat with Danny. Danny's money management skills have not improved a bit, and he is soon on the run to Sydney, where he and Sam find themselves crashing with Nina (Sophie Lee), an actress with an eating disorder, and her gay friend Dirk (Francis McMahon). Just as Danny and Sam seem to be getting settled, Anya arrives, looking to reconcile with Sam; things get complicated for Danny, and he ends up moving in with Flip (Brett Stewart), an old friend with a severe drug problem. He Died With A Felafel In His Hand was adapted from the popular novel by Australian author John Birmingham. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide |

Cool Hand Luke (Deluxe Edition) $17.96 Paul Newman was nominated for an Oscar and George Kennedy received one for his work in this allegorical prison drama. Luke Jackson (Paul Newman) is sentenced to a stretch on a southern chain gang after he's arrested for drunkenly decapitating parking meters. While the avowed ambition of the captain (Strother Martin) is for each prisoner to get their mind right, it soon becomes obvious that Luke is not about to kowtow to anybody. When challenged to a fistfight by fellow inmate Dragline (George Kennedy), Luke simply refuses to give up, even though he's brutally beaten. Luke knows how to win at poker, even with bad cards, by using his smarts and playing it cool. Luke also figures out a way for the men to get their work done in half the usual time, giving them the afternoon off. Finally, when Luke finds out his mother has died, he plots his escape; when he's caught, he simply escapes again. Soon, Luke becomes a symbol of hope and resilience to the other men in the prison camp -- and a symbol of rebelliousness that must be stamped out to the guards and the captain. Along with stellar performances by Newman, Kennedy, and Martin, Cool Hand Luke features a superb supporting cast, including Ralph Waite, Harry Dean Stanton, Dennis Hopper, Wayne Rogers, and Joe Don Baker as members of the chain gang. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide |

SHAOLIN HAND LOCK (LIVE ACTION) $17.96 Although it looks more like an independent kung fu film of the era, this film was one of a long string of kung fu programmers from Shaw Brothers. Shaolin Handlock takes a traditional kung fu plot and spices it up with some novel gimmickry. When Li Bai (Dick Wei) is murdered in China, his son Cheng-ying (David Chiang) tracks the killer to Thailand and discovers that the murder was ordered by wealthy businessman Lin Hao (Lo Lieh). Cheng-ying gets a job as Lin Hao's bodyguard as he plots his revenge, only to find himself regularly thwarted by Kun Shi (Hui-Min Chen), a jealous rival guard. Things get more complex when Cheng-ying's sister Meng-ping (Chen Ping) comes to Thailand to join in the revenge plot and Cheng-ying discovers some hidden secrets about Lin Hao's marriage. Shaolin Handlock derives its title from a secret kung fu technique developed by Cheng-ying's father. This technique combined with some of the weapons used by Lin Hao and his operatives give the film a comic book feel that has endeared it to many a kung fu film fan. ~ Donald Guarisco, All Movie Guide |
